13th Annual Tree Sale

For the 13th year in a row, Branch Out Burlington! is offering bare-root trees at affordable prices. These trees are generally between 5-6 feet and branched, but check the descriptions below for a specific tree size on arrival. Please check your zone in the zone hardiness map provided in the menu on the right before purchasing a tree.  Click on the images below for a larger image.

Sargent Crabapple – Malus sargentii

Profusion of pink buds open to white blooms in mid spring.  Fruit can be used for jams or jellies.  Birds also favor the fruit.  Green leaves are disease resistant.  Plant as a specimen or in groups for great spring effect.  Full sun. Grows to a height of 6-8 ft. and a width of 12 ft.   Zone 4.  5 ft. Price $59.




 

MN (Minnesota) Strain Redbud – Cercis canadensis

Striking pink flowers in early spring before leaves appear. Gracefully ascending branches and a rounded shape. Heart shaped leaves emerge reddish turning to green.  Easy to grow and care for.  Does well in sun or part shade. Grows to a height of 20-30 ft. and a width of 20-25 ft.  Zone 4. 6 ft. SOLD OUT Oakleaf Mountain Ash – Sorbus hybrida
Contrary to the name, this tree is NOT in the ash family, and is safe from Emerald Ash borer. Uniform with dark green leaves lobed like English oak. Upright oval shape with ascending branches. White flowers in spring followed by bright orange/red fruit that birds love! Leaves turn orange in fall. Beautiful accent or specimen tree. Fireblight resistant. Full sun. Renaissance Reflection® Paper Birch – Betula papyrifera ‘Renci’

Brilliant white peeling bark while displaying dark green foliage throughout the season and golden fall color.  Very rapid grower.  Single stem with pyramidal form, well suited to the home landscape.  Resistant to bronze birch borer.  Full sun. Grows to a height of 50-70 ft. and a width of 20-25 ft.  Zone 2.  5 ft. Price $59.




 

Sienna Glen® Maple – Acer x freemanii ‘Sienna’

Fast growing, hardy maple. Tolerant of alkaline, acidic and wet soil. Withstands strong winds.  Good substitute for ash varieties. Green leaves in summer, burgundy in fall. Plant as a specimen or in a classic row.    Full sun.   Grows to a height of 60 ft and a width of 40 ft.  Zone 3.  5 ft. Price $59.




 

 Liberty Apple – Malus ‘Liberty’

Red skin. High quality eating and cooking apple. Flesh crisp, juicy and sprightly. Early heavy bearer. Scab free and highly disease resistant. Requires a nearby pollinator of another apple or crab tree.  Grows to a height of 30-35 ft and a width of 20 ft.  Zones 4-8.  5 ft. Price $59.




 

Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry  – Amelanchier x grandiflora ‘Autumn Brilliance’

Graceful tree for small spaces. Beautiful white flowers in early spring, followed by small red-purple edible fruit in summer. Bright red fall color.  Reaches mature size early. The fruit tastes like blueberries and can be made into jams and jellies. Birds will thank you! Plant in full sun to part shade.  Grows to a height of 20-25 ft and a width of 15-20 ft.  Zones 4-9. 5 ft. Price $59.




Lapin Cherry – Prunus avium ‘Lapin’ 

A big, beautiful dark mahogany red cherry. These are some of the largest and juiciest cherries that grow on trees. The sweet taste is wonderful for baking and cooking. Highly resistant to browning. Blooms late May, ripening late July to August. Prolific producer of cherries. Grows to a height of 15-20 feet.  Zones 4-8.  5 ft. Price $59.




Reliance Peach – Prunus persica ‘Reliance’

The hardiest yellow-fleshed freestone peach available. Medium sized, roundish, yellow-fleshed peach. Has a rather dull blush over green-yellow color. Flesh is bright yellow, rather soft and juicy. Full sun.  Self-fruitful, additional pollinator tree not required. Grows to a height of 15–20 ft. Zone 4.  5 ft. Price $59.




Tree Gator

This is a slow release watering system for trees. It delivers 20 gallons of water directly to the roots of a newly planted tree with no run-off or evaporation, saving time, money, water and effort, while properly and efficiently watering your new tree. The tree gator needs to be filled once a week to provide enough water to support a tree.   Order the tree gators along with your trees and pick them up on May 2nd at the tree pickup.  Price $22.00.

Fabulous looking oak providing year round interest! Leaves dark green with white underneath in summer. Yellow to red fall color. Distinct flaky gray brown bark looks beautiful in winter. Native to Vermont, Stunning creamy white snowball-like flowers in late May are followed by purple-black berries attracting birds. Leaves turn a beautiful purple-red in fall.
