15th Annual Tree Sale

For the 15th year, Branch Out Burlington! is offering bare-root trees at affordable prices. These trees are generally between 5-6 feet tall and branched, but check the descriptions below for a specific tree size on arrival. Please check your zone in the USDA plant hardiness zone map provided in the menu on the right before purchasing a tree.  Click on the tree images below for a larger view.  And new this year, there is a link to a more detailed description of each tree.     

Instructions for Tree Pickup

If you ordered a tree, it must be picked up at UVM Horticultural Research Center on Saturday April 30, 2022 between 9 am and 12:00 pm. If your last name begins with A-L, please pick up your tree between 9:00 am and 11:00 am.  If your last name begins with M-Z, please pick up your tree between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm.  No exceptions, all trees must be picked up on April 30th between these times or you will forfeit your tree(s). Click here for directions to the Horticultural Research Center.  For bare-root planting instructions,  click here or  click here for a video.  Questions? Nannyberry – Viburnum lentago – Tree Form

Native to Vermont, Stunning creamy white snowball-like flowers in late May are followed by purple-black berries attracting birds. Leaves turn a beautiful purple-red in fall. Renaissance Oasis® Paper Birch – Betula papyrifera ‘Oenci’

Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry – Amelanchier x grandiflora ‘Autumn Brilliance’

Graceful tree for small spaces. Beautiful white flowers in early spring, followed by small red-purple edible fruit in summer. Bright red fall color.  Reaches mature size early. The fruit tastes like blueberries and can be made into jams and jellies. Birds will thank you! Mount Royal Plum – Prunus domestica ‘Mount Royal’

Reliance Peach – Prunus persica ‘Reliance’

The hardiest yellow-fleshed freestone peach available. Medium sized, roundish, yellow-fleshed peach. Has a rather dull blush over green-yellow color. Flesh is bright yellow, rather soft and juicy. Lapins Cherry – Prunus avium ‘Lapins’ 

A big, beautiful dark mahogany red cherry. These are some of the largest and juiciest cherries that grow on trees. The sweet taste is wonderful for baking and cooking.
