  • Founded in 1998 by Branch Out Burlington! (BOB!), the Burlington Community Tree Nursery supplies affordable trees for the city's streets and parks. In partnership with the Burlington Department of Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront, over 120 saplings are planted each spring in cloth grow bags, which promote healthy roots and simplify transplanting.

  • In partnership with Burlington Parks, Rec & Waterfront, Branch Out Burlington! (BOB!) maintains a community tree nursery to supply trees for city streets and parks. BOB! offers tree stewardship, educational programs, and volunteer opportunities to support Burlington’s urban forest. Programs like the Community Tree Keeper Program and events like the Annual Tree Walk and Awesome Tree Contest promote public awareness and teach residents about tree care and the value of trees.

  • The annual tree planting day happens every spring and is a festive event that attracts 70-80 volunteers of all ages. After the work is done, refreshments are served, and everyone goes home with a door prize.

Tree Nursery

The Burlington Community Tree Nursery, established by Branch Out Burlington! (BOB!), provides trees for Burlington’s parks and streets with help from community volunteers. Located at UVM’s Horticulture Research Center, the nursery thrives through student and community volunteer efforts, including monthly summer “weeding bees” and an annual tree dig-up each April. Each year, over 100 trees are prepared and selected based on city needs and growing conditions, then transplanted to public spaces by the Burlington Parks Department to fill empty spots across the city.
